My Shanty

January 2011 I made one of the best fishing investments so far.  I bought a portable flip over style shanty. I went with the Shapell Rover 1.5.  I had a lot of people telling me negative things about the Shappell products, but my buddy Eric that runs the local bait shop assured me I wouldn't be disappointed, and since he's never steered me wrong in the past, I took his word, and he was right!

I would have liked to buy a two man shanty but since I have no machine to tow it, I decided against that. But for 1 person alone, the Rover 1.5 is more than enough room! Its well built, and though its only been through one season on the ice it shows no wear at all!

Since I bought the shanty I have done several modifications to it, to make it my own, and more organized, and fish-able.  Here's the list of what has been done so far!

-Runners under the sled. (I used a pair of downhill ski's I found cheap on Kijiji.)
-Comfortable Seating.
-Rod Holders
-Lighting (I went with 3 rechargeable treble lights)
-Aluminum framework to hold gear in place
-Auger Rack
-Modified Minnow cooler
-Tackle organizer/storage with rod storage
-And I'm sure there will be more to come!

If anyone would like a step by step on any of the mods I've done, just leave it in the comment box, and I'll see what I can do!
